Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmed is one of the most influential Muslim scholars in the Islamic world and acts as a global face of Indian Muslim communities at various international forums. He is the General Secretary of All India Sunni Jam-e-yyathul Ulema, an apex body of Muslim scholars in India and General Secretary of Samastha Kerala Jam-e-yyathul Ulema or Samastha as it’s popularly known among Malayali Muslims and the founder of Jamia Markaz, a leading educational initiative among Indian Muslim communities after independence. Sheikh Aboobacker is known and is widely recognized for his transformative and revolutionary roles in the wider social body of Indian Muslims who are considerably one of the most backward populations in the country. His social activism works towards making education relevant and meaningful to Muslims everyday life and by that to produce scholars of the moment who are capable of engaging with the modern world.
